Experience

Admitted to the Virginia Bar in 2022, Emily Smith joined Franklin & Prokopik’s Herndon office, focusing her practice primarily on workers’ compensation. Before joining F&P,  Emily was an associate attorney for Impact Legal Group, PLLC, handling immigration, criminal, and family law matters.

During law school at the American University Washington College of Law, Emily served as the Executive Editor of the Criminal Law Practitioner.  While maintaining her studies, Emily interned for the Warrenton Public Defender Office, the Fairfax Public Defender Office, and the Washington D.C. Public Defender Service. In these positions, Emily represented clients faced with DUI and suspended license charges and conducted research on complex legal issues and drafter memoranda.  Prior to law school, she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University, where she second-authored a research paper on the modification of solar cells.

Activities

Emily is a member of the Virginia Bar Association. Outside of the office, Emily enjoys reading and playing the piano.
