Corporate & Social Responsibility

Diversity & Inclusion

Franklin & Prokopik is an equal opportunity employer and believes that a diverse and talented workforce best serves the interest of our clients. We are committed to recruiting and promoting attorneys regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. In addition to understanding the importance and value of a diverse workforce at our firm, we are committed to promoting diversity and opportunity in the legal field and our local community.

F&P is a proud sponsor of the Annual Gala for the University of Baltimore’s Fannie Angelos Program for Academic Excellence. The Fannie Angelos Program is designed to identify talented minority students, help them gain admittance to law school, support them through law school and help them find jobs upon graduation.  The program prepares students from Maryland HBCUs and other select colleges for admission to law school and continues to work with them so that they may excel and thrive throughout their legal careers.

Strong female representation is also an attribute F&P has prided itself on since the firm’s inception. Law360 annually recognizes the firms that are making efforts to close the gender gap. In the most recent study, F&P was ranked 7th nationally for female representation among equity partners and 14th among total female attorneys.

Community

Franklin & Prokopik is dedicated, both as a firm and as individuals, to giving back to the community.  The firm has a weekday group volunteer outing every quarter that is open to all employees.  We partner with various organizations and programs including:

Living Classrooms’ Healthy Cities Game Changers

The program was designed to expand the scope and scale of Living Classrooms’ existing initiative to bring nutrition, fitness, wellness education to a targeted area of East Baltimore known as the Baltimore Target Investment Zone (TIZ). The events take place on days when Baltimore City schools are closed and provide children a safe and healthy environment.

Sustainability

Franklin & Prokopik believes that lessening our environmental footprint is important to our employees, our clients, and our community.  We hope our efforts are contributing to setting the bar in the legal industry.

The firm is committed to “reduce, reuse, recycle.”  We provide a large quantity of resource materials to our clients which we now put on USBs, saving thousands of sheets of paper a year, and we use electronic document management as much as possible.  Recycle bins are located in every office and throughout common areas for when printing is necessary.  When we have extra materials such as folders or paper we no longer need, it is donated to Baltimore City schools.

F&P eliminated the use of disposable cups (eliminating 17,000 that were being purchased each year) and now use washable mugs along with wooden stirrers.  We also upgraded our cleaning supplies to include reusable synthetic sponges.
