Law Clerk - Baltimore

Description:
Franklin and Prokopik, P.C. (F&P) is a growing defense firm that employs a workforce of 170+ employees across six office locations in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.
We are looking to hire rising 2Ls or 3Ls to join our practice as Law Clerks. This hands-on learning opportunity will allow the Law Clerks to be exposed to one of the primary practice areas of the Firm: general liability. Law Clerks will provide direct litigation support to cases in active litigation. They will be mentored by top lawyers in their prospective practices. Law Clerks will be given a variety of responsibilities, including researching and drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery, preparing witnesses for depositions, assisting attorneys with preparing for hearings and trials, and conducting factual investigations. In addition to practicing and acquiring new skills, the Law Clerks will have the opportunity to network inside and outside the office through various social events. This is a part-time position with our firm, and hours are flexible to accommodate a Law Clerk’s class schedule and/or other law school obligations.
Requirements:
- Strong writing skills
- Attention to detail
- Experience in Microsoft tools
- Ability to learn new software systems easily
- Eagerness to participate in heavy litigation trial-prep

Liability Paralegal
Baltimore, MD
Description:
F&P’s Baltimore office is hiring a Liability Paralegal to provide support for attorneys. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Draft answers to complaints, written discovery, motions to compel,
postponements, dismissals, expert designations, and other minor pleadings - Subpoena medical records and other investigative documents
- Summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and other pertinent
documents - Deposition and/or trial preparation, including but not limited to exhibits,
reference documents, and research as needed by attorney(s) - Prepare documents for Expert/Expert contact
- Witness interviews/client communication
- E-filing; MDEC, DC, and Federal
- Proficient with billing time keeping/billing hours
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- An associate’s degree or equivalent years of experience.
- Two years of law firm experience.
- Experienced and skilled in computer systems in a Windows and Microsoft-based environment.
- Ability to learn new software systems easily.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate clearly and effectively.
- Superior listening, oral, and written skills.

Students and career professionals are encouraged to apply. F&P Paralegal positions are excellent opportunities for confident, professional self-starters of varying experience and education levels to advance their litigation and case management skills. Openings are available in various practice areas, and our ideal candidates for these relied-upon positions will enjoy litigation, strategy, and/or claims management; mastering pleadings and other legal documents; learning and implementing legal processes; working independently; and being trusted with hands-on responsibility.
Requirements:
Preference will be given to those with a minimum of 1-2 years of legal experience working with either WC claims or Maryland litigation processes. Additionally, F&P values excellent communication, attention to detail, and follow-up skills. Some experience with Practice Master case management software is helpful but not required.
