The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission has welcomed three new deputy commissioners this spring.
Lauren Hill was previously a staff attorney in the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission’s Judicial Department. Ms. Hill served as a certified mediator with mentor status for the Commission’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Department. Ms. Hill graduated cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law and completed two internships before joining the Commission. She interned at the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia and the Virginia Employment Commission. Deputy Commissioner Hill is serving as commissioner in the Harrisburg region.
Christopher Wilson comes from Kalbaugh, Pfund, & Messersmith (KPM), a full-service litigation firm in Richmond, Virginia, where he focused on Workers’ Compensation claims. Mr. Wilson graduated from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2015 and was a Research Assistant for McMenamin Law Offices, PLLC, before beginning his career at KPM. The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission welcomed Mr. Wilson in March 2025, and he is serving as Deputy Commissioner in Manassas, Virginia.
Frederick T. Schubert II previously came from Midkiff, Muncie, & Ross (MMR), where he focused on Workers’ Compensation claims and general liability. Mr. Schubert served as co-chair for MMR’s workers’ compensation section. He was also rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, the highest level of peer review, recognizing Mr. Schubert for his legal knowledge, communication skills, and ethical standards. Mr. Schubert graduated cum laude from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in 1992. Deputy Commissioner Schubert joins Deputy Commissioner Wilson in Manassas, Virginia.
We also expect a new Deputy Commissioner to be named later this year with the upcoming retirement of Deputy Commissioner Cummins in Fairfax, Virginia.
