A principal of the law firm of Franklin & Prokopik, John J. Handscomb concentrates his practice in the area of civil litigation, especially the defense of workers’ compensation cases and liability matters in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Education
A graduate of Loyola Blakefield, Mr. Handscomb received his B.A. from Loyola College in Maryland in 1990. In 1993, he received his Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from the University of Baltimore. During law school he was a Law Achievement Workshop Scholar for Professor James May and Criminal Law in the Law Achievement workshop program for two years.

He is a current member of the Maryland Bar Association and has previously served as a member of the American Inns of Court and the National Law Foundation.

Mr. Handscomb is an adjunct professor at the Community College of Baltimore County where he teaches Civil Procedure, Business Law & Workers’ Compensation. He is also a member of the College’s Legal Studies Advisory Board.
