A Principal of Franklin &amp; Prokopik, Tamara B. Goorevitz focuses her practice on civil and commercial litigation including trucking and transportation, retail, motor tort, automotive, products liability, premises liability, intentional torts, contracts and commercial disputes, general liability defense and labor and employment. Ms. Goorevitz handles litigation for numerous large and small businesses, retailers and insurance companies. Ms. Goorevitz also represents auto dealers and their insurers, in matters involving a wide variety of issues in the auto industry.

Ms. Goorevitz has worked extensively in trucking and transportation law, including defense of liability and insurance coverage actions for motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and their insurers and the litigation of freight charge and freight loss and damage claims. Ms. Goorevitz’s retail practice includes cases involving slip and falls, general premises liability, falling merchandise, third party criminal conduct claims, negligent security, defective products, false arrest and detention, malicious prosecution, food contamination, defamation, invasion of privacy, assault and battery and other intentional torts, as well as claims involving the negligent hiring, retention and supervision of retail employees. Ms. Goorevitz’s labor and employment practice includes representation of employers in various aspects of labor and employment law including the defense of a wide variety of labor and employment-related litigation, such as employment discrimination claims under Title VII and the Americans with Disabilities Act, both at the EEOC level and in state and federal courts. Ms. Goorevitz also assists employers in drafting effective employment policies, such as employee handbooks, and in training employees to avoid potential litigation.

Ms. Goorevitz is admitted to practice before the Maryland Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Education
Ms. Goorevitz received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from James Madison University in 1995 where she graduated with honors. She earned her Juris Doctor degree in 1998 from the University of Baltimore School of Law where she graduated with honors. While at University of Baltimore School of Law, Ms. Goorevitz was a Staff Member of the University of Baltimore Law Review.

Ms. Goorevitz serves as General Counsel to the Maryland Retailers’ Association. Ms. Goorevitz is also a member of various professional organizations, including DRI: The Voice of the Defense Bar, where she serves as Chair of the Trucking Law Committee and served as Program Chair for the 2010 Trucking Law Seminar, Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA), where she serves as co-Chair of the Logistics and E-Commerce Committee, and Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA). She is also a member of various bar associations including the Bar Association of Baltimore City and the Maryland State Bar Association. Ms. Goorevitz served on the Board of Governors of the Maryland State Bar Association from 2007–2009.

Ms. Goorevitz is a co-author of “Indemnification of Permissive Users: Coverage Expansion in Tractor-Trailer Insurance?” (For The Defense, February 2005) and is the author of “The Use of Photogrammetry in Accident Reconstruction: Can Expert Opinions Be Successfully Challenged?” (For The Defense, January 2009).
