At Franklin & Prokopik, Kara focuses on the representation of employers, self-insured employers and insurers in workers’ compensation cases at the administrative and all appellate levels, as well as general litigation and labor matters. Kara also has experience in trucking matters, including litigation, workers’ compensation, and equipment leases.
In addition to her years in private practice, Kara spent three years as in-house counsel at Lincoln General Insurance Company, focusing on national investigation of serious trucking accidents, litigation, workers’ compensation and coverage matters.
Kara completed her undergraduate degree in three and one half years, spending her last semester working at the Justice Department in Washington D.C. and writing her thesis on the abuse of the institutionalized elderly.

Kara is a member of the American Bar Association where she served as a Vice Chair of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section, Workers’ Compensation and Employer’s Liability Committee from 2005 to 2012. She was appointed to the Policy Committee in 2009 and served as Multi-State Liaison Vice Chair 2010–2012. She has also served on the Peer Review Committee of the Maryland Bar Association Attorney Grievance Commission since 2006. Kara is a member of the Talbot County Bar Association. She is a frequent speaker on workers’ compensation, unemployment and other employment related topics.
